Strategic IT Consulting in Dubai
OptiFi provides strategic IT consulting for businesses across Dubai and the wider UAE. We act as an advisory partner rather than a supplier: assessing what you have, establishing what your licence structure and sector actually require, and building a technology roadmap you can finance. We hold vendor partnerships and will still tell you when the right answer is to change nothing this year.
Mainland, free zone, and what it means for your IT
Where a UAE company is licensed shapes its technology more than most owners expect. A free zone entity in DMCC, JAFZA, DIFC or one of the Sharjah and Ajman zones operates under a different regulator from a mainland company, and businesses running both are effectively running two compliance regimes.
That reaches into ordinary decisions: whether entities share one system or run separate ones, how VAT is handled between them, who can access what, and whether a single email domain across two legal persons creates a problem. None of it is difficult once decided. All of it is expensive to unpick later.
Entity structure review
What you hold, what each licence permits, and where the systems should follow the structure.
Shared versus separate systems
Decided against your reporting and compliance needs rather than by default.
Access boundaries
Who reaches which entity's data, agreed rather than inherited from how accounts were first created.
Growth headroom
A structure that survives the next licence rather than one that has to be rebuilt for it.
Vendor-neutral, and what that costs us
We hold partnerships with several vendors, which means we can implement what we recommend. It also means we could recommend what we happen to sell, and the only protection against that is being explicit about it.
So we will tell you when a cheaper product covers your requirement, when your existing system is adequate and the problem is elsewhere, and when the honest answer is to do nothing this year. That costs us revenue in specific cases and is the reason the advice is worth having.
Budgets in AED, and the costs proposals leave out
An IT budget built only from licence and hardware prices will be wrong by a wide margin. Implementation, data migration, training, support and the annual increases that arrive quietly on renewal are the larger part of the number over three years.
Currency deserves attention too. Most enterprise software is priced in dollars and billed in dirhams at a rate that moves, and multi-year commitments made on this year's rate have surprised more than one finance director.
We build the three-year figure rather than the purchase-order figure, including what happens if you stop — because exit cost is the number no proposal volunteers.
Three-year total
Licences, implementation, training, support and renewal increases, not the first invoice.
Renewal exposure
What the price does at year two and three, asked before signing rather than discovered.
Exit cost
What it takes to leave, established while you still have leverage.
Currency terms
How dollar pricing converts, and who carries the movement.
A roadmap you can actually finance
The deliverable is a sequence with costs, dependencies and dates — not a maturity model. It says what to do this quarter, what waits, and what the second thing depends on.
It also says what not to do. Most IT roadmaps we are asked to review contain at least one project that solves a problem the business no longer has, and removing it funds something that matters.
